Meet Mo Reyes, Owner of Coastal Valley Electric
Hi, I’m Mo Reyes. I was born and raised in Salinas, and I’m proud to serve the communities that shaped me — Monterey County, Santa Cruz County, and San Benito County.
I started in the electrical trade when I was 18 years old, back in August 1995. I came up through an apprenticeship, learning the work hands-on in homes, businesses, and industrial settings. Those early years taught me how important it is to be careful, stay focused, and treat people with respect. Today, with 31 years in the industry, I still bring that same mindset to every job.
Coastal Valley Electric, Inc. was established in December 2007. I started the company because a close friend — who’s a general contractor — kept pushing me to take the leap. He believed I could run my own shop, and he was right. I also wanted the independence of building something that reflects how I think electrical work should be done: clear communication, solid workmanship, and no unnecessary surprises.
For me, good customer service starts with doing it right the first time. I also make communication a priority. I don’t like vague plans or last-minute changes that leave people guessing. I’d rather be upfront, explain what I’m doing, and make sure you feel comfortable with the next step.
My favorite part of electrical work is the challenge — especially troubleshooting. I like tracking down the real issue and fixing it the right way. I also enjoy meeting different people and being able to help when something in your home or business isn’t working the way it should.
Outside of work, I like to get to the lake when I can and slow things down. I also restore cars, which is another kind of problem-solving — just with different tools.
If you’re looking for an electrician who takes your time seriously and keeps you in the loop, I’d be glad to help.
