About Legacy Lightning Protection

Legacy Lightning Protection was built on generations of electrical experience, hands-on field knowledge, and a commitment to protecting commercial and industrial facilities throughout Texas. Co-owners Cory Farrell and Ronnie Jones bring more than 50 years of combined experience across residential, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure electrical projects.

Cory Farrell grew up in the electrical trade, starting alongside his father in the family-owned Farrell Electric Service in Austin, Texas. As a fifth-generation electrician and business owner, Cory’s family roots in the Austin electrical industry date back to 1930. Over the years, he has worked on everything from luxury custom homes to large commercial and infrastructure projects. His background includes work with IBEW Local 520, commercial electrical projects for organizations like TxDOT and AT&T, and leadership roles on major water treatment facility projects throughout Central Texas. After earning his Master Electrician license, Cory founded his own electrical company, growing it into a successful team serving commercial and industrial clients across the region.

Ronnie Jones also began learning the trade at a young age through his father’s electrical business in North Austin. A third-generation electrician and business owner, Ronnie has built extensive experience in commercial construction, industrial systems, infrastructure, and service work. His project experience includes high-rise developments, schools, water and wastewater facilities, lift stations, roadway infrastructure, and large commercial facilities throughout Texas. In 2015, Ronnie launched Cross Texas Electric, where he completed large-scale commercial projects and ongoing service work for businesses across the state.

Together, Cory and Ronnie founded Legacy Lightning Protection to focus on lightning protection, grounding, bonding, surge protection, and long-term facility reliability. Their combined experience in complex electrical systems gives them a practical understanding of how to protect critical infrastructure, industrial facilities, commercial properties, and sensitive equipment from lightning-related damage and downtime.

Legacy Lightning Protection proudly serves Austin and the Texas Triangle with a safety-first mindset and a focus on quality workmanship, reliable communication, and long-term customer relationships.
