Measurement Visit
Every project begins with an in-person visit to the home.
During this visit we measure and document the plumbing layout inside and outside the house. This allows us to understand where the existing cast iron pipes run and determine the best approach for replacement.
We also answer questions and discuss the homeowner’s specific concerns during this visit.
Because every home has a different plumbing layout, accurate measurements are essential before preparing a proposal.

Custom Proposal & Diagram
After the visit, the measurements are reviewed and a custom diagram is created showing the excavation plan for the project.
A detailed proposal is then prepared and sent to the homeowner. This proposal explains the work that will be performed along with the pricing.
In most cases, homeowners receive this information the same day as the measurement visit.
This step allows homeowners to review the plan carefully and decide whether they would like to move forward.

Work Begins
Once the proposal is approved and the project is scheduled, excavation begins.
Trenching in the yard, along with access points for tunneling under the house, are created so our team can expose the areas necessary beneath the home and in the yard to install the new PVC sewer system.
Every home is different, but the goal is always to complete the work as efficiently as possible while protecting the property.
Most projects require one to two days of excavation before the PVC pipe installation is completed.

Testing & City Inspection
After the new pipes are installed, the system must be tested and inspected.
Hydrostatic testing is performed to confirm the system is functioning properly. The city then performs an inspection to verify the work meets plumbing code requirements.
Only after the system passes inspection can the project move to the final stage.

Backfill & Final Walkthrough
Once the inspection is complete, the excavation areas are backfilled and the property is cleaned up.
A final walkthrough is performed to confirm the work has been completed as outlined in the proposal.
At this point the project is complete and final payment is collected.
Project Timeline
Most projects are completed within 3 to 5 days, depending on the size of the home, weather conditions, and project complexity.
While every home is different, the work generally progresses through the following stages:
- Excavation and access

- Backfill and cleanup
Homeowners are usually able to remain in the home during the project. There will be temporary periods when water use is unavailable while certain stages of the work are completed.

Will my yard be completely torn up?
No. Some excavation in the yard is necessary, usually in at least one location. However, the amount of excavation depends on the plumbing layout of the home. After receiving your input, the excavation plan diagram will show the areas to be excavated.
To help protect the property, our team uses plastic sheeting and places excavated soil on the plastic rather than directly on the grass. This helps protect the surrounding areas while the work is being performed.
In most cases, the primary visible area afterward is where the trench was located. We work hard to protect the yard and keep disruption to a minimum while completing the project.
What happens after the new pipes are installed?
After the new PVC piping is installed, the system must be tested and inspected. A hydrostatic test is performed to confirm the system is functioning properly, and the city performs an inspection to verify the work meets plumbing code requirements. Once the system passes inspection, the project moves to the final stage of backfill, cleanup, and completion.
